Description
On the debut episode, Wheelock will be joined by UFC creator Art Davie, and legendary referee "Big" John McCarthy, to discuss UFC 5, which celebrates its 25th Anniversary this month. UFC 5 is historically significant in MMA, as it was the final Ultimate Fighting Championship event under the ownership of Art Davie and Rorion Gracie, and also the first ever UFC card to feature a non-tournament bout: the Royce Gracie vs Ken Shamrock "superfight."
On upcoming episodes, MMA Rewind will explore other UFC events, as well as those from Pride, Bellator, Strikeforce, Affliction, YAMMA Pit Fighting, EliteXC, and many more.
"I'm extremely pleased to partner with FITE in creating this new series," said Sean Wheelock, who will also serve as an Executive Producer, in addition to his role as host. "I love MMA history, and I love all of the inside stories that often reveal the craziness and chaos that surrounds fight cards."
Wheelock has served has served as the play by play commentator for both Pride and Bellator, and is currently the voice of numerous combat sports promotions worldwide, including Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, which is available on FITE. He's also a Commissioner for the Kansas Athletic Commission and the Chairman of the ABC's MMA Rules and Regulations Committee. And his life was changed forever on November 12, 1993, when his mom paid $14.95 so that he could watch UFC 1 live on pay per view."
